Geofence Areas: Smart Tracking for Your Vehicles
1. Executive Summary
This report introduces the Geofence Areas feature, a powerful tool designed to help you efficiently manage and monitor your vehicles by setting up virtual boundaries on a map. Instead of constantly tracking every vehicle manually, Geofence Areas allow you to define specific zones – like warehouses, delivery routes, or customer locations – and receive automatic alerts or trigger actions whenever a vehicle enters or exits these areas. This means enhanced security, improved operational efficiency, and better oversight without needing constant manual supervision. It simplifies how you keep an eye on your assets, giving you peace of mind and more control over your logistics and transportation needs.
2. Introduction
Imagine being able to draw a line on a map around an important location and instantly know when your vehicles arrive or leave. That's exactly what Geofence Areas let you do! In the fast-paced world of vehicle tracking and logistics, knowing where your assets are at all times is crucial. Traditional methods can be time-consuming and prone to human error. This feature addresses those challenges by providing an automated, precise way to monitor movement within predefined geographic zones.
What is a Geofence? A geofence is simply a virtual boundary you create around a real-world location using GPS technology. When a vehicle enters or exits this boundary, the system can automatically trigger a pre-defined action or send you an alert. Think of it as an invisible tripwire for your vehicles.
- Transportation Geofence: This is a broad virtual boundary set up for your customer account, encompassing key locations in your transportation or logistics system, such as warehouses, delivery zones, highways, or restricted areas. It's your overall operational area.
 - Trip Geofence: Defined within a larger transportation geofence, a Trip Geofence monitors a vehicle or user during a specific journey. For example, if a vehicle travels from City 'A' to City 'B', you can create a Trip Geofence for that specific route to ensure it stays on track, avoids restricted areas, and hits key checkpoints.

This tool is designed for you, the end-user, to gain better control, visibility, and automation in managing your fleet's movements.
